This was a nice read. I've hardly been into the urban street stories, but I have read my fair share and this one I can also add to my collection.
"A Hustler's Wife was a pretty good book. I am not familiar with Turner's writing, so this was my first experience. There were a lot of publishing errors and missed words. I had to use context clues to figure some things out, but overall, it was an easy read. It was a page turner, but not quite the page turner I expected after reading the reviews. By the time I finished the book, I was ready for the sequel. However, I will say that one thing I LOVE about Turner is how she incorporated spirituality into the street. That was hot!! Either way, I would say pick it up and read it, but buy it on Amazon.com.
Kudo's to Ms. Turner. This book was good. I couldnt put it down. Although some characters such as Rita and Cara appeared @ the end out of no where, it was very well written.It was very big of Yarni to accept Cara back into her life after the trifling things she did to her. That shows you, some friends are envious and will do anything to bring you down...but they will need you in the end.The book was a little fairy-tale...I mean Yarni was one in a million who got all these cars and everything. But hey its fiction :o)If you are in for drama filled, and good urban writing, this book is a must on your list!
Girl meets boy they fall in love, boy is a big time hustler, boy goes to prison, girl is left alone to live life without her true love. First of all Yarni the girl in this drama is too young when she meets Des but i like the fact that she is strong, sassy and smart. but then is she really smart? This sister goes thru trials and tribulations one after another, chapter afer chapter. I couldnt believe some of the things that she went thru.I liked her mother Gloria who stood by her daughter thru thick and thin. At least yarni had a goal in life and i give her thumbs up for jumping over the obstacles and reaching her goal. She also discovers religion along the way which she uses to guide her. Yarni had poeople around her who just used her. Her friend cara betrays her (I still haven't figured out why) and Bengee a lover who uses her and has her take the rap for him.All thru this she still vists des in prison and does all she can to help free him. The ending of this story is a deserving one. Iam glad i bought this book! Go Nikki can't wait for the next!
The sequel was a bit disappointing. I did get through it but it took me a couple of days. It was an ok book but it wasn't one of those books where I had to read it during every free moment I have. I still had to ween my way through the grammatical errors (fault of the publisher), but it was alright. Some of the stuff was a bit far-fetched. I am from the streets so I have a clue. You can read the 2 books or not read them. I will continue to check her out though. I see here writing skills evolving with time. I recommend support Turner and her writings. Peace and Blessings!
I read many of the reviews for this book, so I expected it to be okay. That's what it was, it was an alright read (I read it in less than 1 day), but it was a bit unrealistic in the end. I did like this book, there weren't that many sex scene descriptions like some of the other books of this kind (True to the Game, Coldest Winter Ever). It's definitely not as good as the coldest winter because that was the realest book of this kind that I have ever read. Overall, this book did what I purchased it for, it helped me pass the time.
Just finished Forever A Hustler's Wife, it had me laughing, crying, mad, but I really enjoy it. I was also glad to see Bambi and Lnyx make an appearance in this book because I wondered what would become of them. I really enjoyed reading it and had force my self ro put it down and times. The most devasting parts in the book to me was Nassir death and what happen to Yarrmi with one of her colleagues(npt telling). I felt Des was a smart man but he seem to overlook the small things going on around him. He look at the big picture not thedetails. Another good read by Nikkib Turner.
This was a great continuation. Thanks for the first book and the continued story of des and tarnished. Love the end!
