This is a great book for the beginning archer, for many of us archery began as a self taught enterprise. Our learning was through videos and books and this book was very helpful in getting those first steps to consistent shot groups going. This is not the last book you will need and there is nothing like some time spent with a coach but it is a great place to start to enjoy the zen and art of flinging arrows and oh yeah......the frustration!!
I just started with archery. This is a great book for beginners that cover all the basics. It is written in terms you can understand.

The intro was OK, then goes downhill. Written like a technical manual and not that easy to read without getting bored. Not well edited too as I've seen multiple typos or faulty sentences. Images were amateurish.
Great book on the subject. The writers know their stuff. They not so much write as teach.
I bought this book due to all the positive reviews, and was quite surprised to see it teaching a bad form and a number of bad techniques. Even as a beginner after having taken classes with a few different instructors at different schools, I was able to identify quite a few things from the very beginning that the instructors *all* said not to do, and while I understand that there are some variances in form/technique and wiggle room here and there - these were not such cases. I was warned by my current instructor at the alarming number of bad archery books out there, and unfortunately this is one of them. Specifically related to the Kindle edition, be warned that the images are rather low-resolution and can be hard to make out specific details and text in at times.Having said that, it's at least worth a few stars for its introductory knowledge on the sport and equipment.I've been reading Archery Fundamentals by Douglas Engh, and would highly recommend that instead of Archery: Steps to Success.
Bought this for my daughter. I think it has provided her some ideas to improve her archery form and technique
